Setting Clear Goals and Staying True to Those Goals

Throughout his association with Nu Skin, Andrew Fan, President, Greater China Region, has been fortunate to meet many Nu Skin distributors with inspiring stories—men and women who have set their sights on building a successful Nu Skin business and have let nothing stand in their way.


One story that strikes a chord with Andrew when it comes to setting and maintaining clear goals involves a young Nu Skin distributor from the province of Xinjiang in the far western part of China. This large inland province takes up one-sixth of the geographical area of China and has one of the highest elevations in the world and is home to only 1.5 percent of the nation’s population.


Bright and ambitious, this distributor received a scholarship to study at one of the best universities in Shanghai. While there, he learned about Nu Skin and immediately set some goals for himself: To be financially secure by age 30; achieve time freedom by age 40; create a project that will compile all of the culture of his own race; and to own an opera house by age 60.


Maintaining a Clear Dream Overcomes Numerous Challenges

The young man returned to Xinjiang to build his business and faced numerous challenges due to the province’s ethnic unrest and security measures at the time. This meant that sharing Nu Skin with people after work was nearly impossible. Plus, tensions in the province made it difficult for him to speak with people who were not of his race. But he persevered, his clear goals firmly in sight, and in two years’ time he had built a successful Nu Skin business. And his goal today? To be Team Elite[i] by the end of 2011!

Andrew Fan was the founding employee of Nu Skin in Asia, serving as the company’s first manager of Nu Skin Hong Kong 20 years ago. He has been fortunate to participate in the opening of every Nu Skin Asia market and has witnessed the growth and success of many outstanding distributor leaders throughout Asia.


As President of Greater China, Andrew oversees Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. He is responsible for building a strong Nu Skin presence in Greater China, and today the region is on track to reach the Greater China team’s very aggressive goal of $1 billion by 2014.
